Dear Connie,
FALL is beginning to show up, as evidenced by the 30 degree (or
more) temperature swings that occur between early morning and
mid-afternoon this time of year. The cooler temperatures and crisp
air are definitely welcomed after the long, hot summer we
experienced.
It's time to get sentimental about all that sunshine that we'll
actually begin to miss in the coming months. Who would think that
could happen after one of the most sweltering summers on record and
much of it without air conditioning due to Hurricane Katrina! We made
it through, and proved we are survivors!
Whether we admit it or not, the changing weather is one of the great
things about living in the South. As they say, if you don't like the
weather one minute, stick around, because it can change right before
your eyes! |

Buffalo Nickel kicks up a mix of Blues, Rock & Country! |
|
|
Buffalo Nickel |
|
Saturday, October 15 beginning at 8 pm
Writing and performing together since 1999, Mississippi's own Buffalo
Nickel have taken their unique brand of Honk-N-Roll music from Austin,
TX, to New York City. With their 2002 release, UP ON BLOCKS, the band
won comparisons to pioneer, country-rock genre-benders like The Byrds,
Buck Owens, The Flying Burrito Brothers and REM. Now armed with an
arsenal of classic country licks, pedal- steel guitar, distortion
pedals, songs about beautiful girls with bad teeth, and lots of harmony,
these one time alt-rockers turned alt-country have opened the floodgates
on all that is good in American music, with the release of their new
album NOISE & CONVERSATION.
