Big Juv is led by Jackson blues man Virgil Brawley who is accompanied by fellow blues star Byrd Lovell.
 

Virgil Brawley represented Mississippi in the International Blues Competition in Memphis TN. He has won the Mississippi single/duo Blues Competition held in Vicksburg.

 

The duo performs regularly at some of Jackson's hottest night spots, including Archestratus Grill, Fenian's Pub, the Mardi Gras Jazz Bar and the Alumni House. These seasoned performers know how to deliver the blues, Mississippi style!

Ben Payton was born in Coila, Mississippi. His early musical influences included his grandmother Mabel Johnson's gospel piano playing and his Uncle Joe Birch's blues guitar.
 

In his mid-teens they moved to Chicago, where Ben soon became active in the city's blues scene and backed many prominent artists also working as the house band at local clubs. Ben also played in the R&B bands The Oops and  the band Womb From the Tomb.  

 

In the summer of 2006 Ben performed at the Chicago Blues Festival.

 

He performs regularly in Jackson, Oxford, Greenwood, and Clarksdale, both solo and as a duet with percussionist Cyndi Clark.
