Los Fantasterrificos performs
jazz Saturday night! |
Los Fantasterrificos is an
ensemble jazz group made up of three students, from the USM
Jazz Studies Program: Brent Walsh, Jaime Jiminez,
Cody Ruth and also Chris Werle who performed with Jazz
Ensembles at the University of Maine and the University of
Tennessee.
The goal of this cooperative jazz combo is to present a
high-quality version of the one and only truly American art
form, which is the music we call jazz. "We hope to grow the
'jazz scene' in Mississippi, bringing more listeners and,
ultimately, more performers into our jazz community."
The band performs jazz standards but there are some
original jazz compositions also. Brent Walsh is on drums,
Chris Werle plays trombone and vocals, Jaime Jimenez is on
keyboards and Cody Ruth is on bass.
